Our Garden
I am a keen but somewhat unorthodox gardener. Sometimes I like an ordered chaos, sometimes a chaotic order. I want to combine both, respect the unwritten laws nature dictates, try not to kill unnecessarily little creatures which disturb my “order”. When digging I sometimes encounter an earthworm; I take him carefully out and place him in a safe spot.
I don’t use pesticides, herbicides, I rather pull out the plants which (if not taken away) would suffocate (and in the end kill) the plant I have planted. But whatever I take from the soil will be given back to it.
The vegetable garden is still in quite an empiric phase. But at least, when the things planted grow (and are eaten by whatever little creature finds them), it provides us and our guests with a great variety of biologically grown veggies.
Our own olive-oil adds a deliciously picant flavour to any dish but especially to fresh salads and to the famous bruschetta: grilled, unsalted bread, brushed with fresh garlic and soaked in Olive-Oil.
I work with passion in the garden and olive terraces. My respect and love for the plants and small animal world is an everyday experience!
